The River Glass forms the upper part of the River Beauly system which flows into the Beauly firth just North of Inverness.
The River Glass is a hydro controlled river, and although river levels may vary from day to day, there is always sufficient water for productive fishing.
The best of the fishing is from July onwards to coincide with main grilse run in July and August, which is supplemented by later running fish moving up from the lower river.
The Balmore beat is located east of Cannich and extends to some 1.25 miles of the left (West) bank of the river, and includes 9 named pools of lovely fly water with generally good access, and a fishing hut in the middle of the beat at the Pot pool. The 5 year average back from 2007 was 39 fish over a relatively short season (1 July – 15 October). A change of ownership meant the river was lightly fished in 2008 and no records were kept but 2009 saw rods return to the beat and the season ended with a total of 51 fish caught.
This is an opportunity to secure a tenancy on a lovely accessible beat at a prime time.
Accommodation
Balmore House is currently being renovated and for 2010 season will provide very comfortable accommodation for 8 in the lovely traditional house a few hundred yards from the river.
