Home > England > Bywell > BYWELL FISHINGS RIVER TYNE CATCH RECORDS The river at Bywell comprises 2.5 miles (4km) of river with a fine mixture of long fast running powerful pools flowing into good tail runs along with one or two longer stretches of slower water which fish well during high water levels. There are 12 main named pools and others during high water conditions. Fishing on the river will be on a 2-beat system with 4 rods on each beat rotating daily Record Catches The River Tyne is famous for its large fish, many into double figures with the occasional 30lb+. Salmon catches are impressive with a 4 year average of 388 fish. A record year was had in 2004 of 677. Whilst there are fish in the River throughout the Season (February 1st to October 31st), the prime months are April (97 in 2006), September (182 in 2004) and October (202 in 2004).
