Located at the southern end of Loch Maree, Kinlochewe and Lochrosque extend over some 35,000 acres taking in some of Scotland's most dramatic scenery. The estate offers an unrivalled mix of sport with fishing for salmon, sea trout and wild brown trout, walked-up grouse shooting and red deer stalking over some famous stalking grounds, including Cabuie and Nest of Fannich.

Accommodation

The impressive Kinlochewe Lodge enhances this first rate sporting estate, and provides accommodation of the highest standard for a maximum of 18 people including staff. This is a traditional Highland lodge, which is located close to the rivers with good access to the hill. Dogs are allowed in the lodge preferably in the gun room and there are kennels available. A full sized billiard table is in the lodge and tv. Downstairs there is a cloakroom with shower and 2 wash hand basins and 3 separate w.c.'s. First Floor: 2 separate w.c.'s upstairs along with 4 bathrooms - all with wash hand basins and w.c.'s. 9 bedrooms have wash hand basins.

Lodge Cottage, immediately adjacent to the lodge is available as additional accommodation for larger parties. There are three twin bedrooms, bathroom, small kitchen and sitting room

Fishing

The Kinlochewe, Bruachaig and A'Ghairbhe Rivers provide great variety for salmon and sea trout fishing on more than 11 miles of both banks. The rental of Kinlochewe Lodge includes 4 rotating beats on the rivers and 2 boats on the south end of Loch Maree. Salmon may be expected from as early as March. Charles McLaren, author of Seatrout Fishing, always favoured May as his favourite month on these rivers. The estate provides excellent wild brown trout fishing on Lochs Maree, More, Beg, Loch a'Chroisg and Fannich as well as a number of smaller hill lochs, and five miles of the River Braan, a tributary of the River Conon. In 2008, one party had two “first salmon” for two young members of their party, and one June party had six fish in one day.

Shooting and Stalking

From the middle of August until early September mixed sporting packages are available with walked-up grouse and stalking. From the second week in September onwards the lodge is let with stalking and fishing, initially with 5 stags each week and once into October with up to 10 stags each week.

According to G. Kenneth Whitehead, Lochrosque, Cabuie and Nest of Fannich have some of the most challenging stalking grounds in Scotland, especially as there are a number of punchbowl-like corries which demand great skill in order to complete a successful stalk. Kinlochewe is an ideal estate to try for a Macnab. Christopher Birrell was successful in achieving a Macnab on 26th August, 2008.

Being only an hour's drive from Inverness, Kinlochewe and Lochrosque are easily accessible from all parts of the UK and are an ideal location for family holidays throughout the year.

Macnab at Kinlochewe “For the record, it was on Tuesday, 26th August and having woken up early I went down to the Manse Pool where I caught the grilse of about 5 pounds at about 7.30am. It was my turn in any event on the hill and I had a great day with Kenny Ross in Nest of Fannich. I shot a stag late in the day in fairly dirty weather and on the way back, as I’d brought my gun with me, we put Tolly, Kenny’s spaniel, out along the heather close to Loch Fannich. The grouse was shot out of the second small covey at around 6.30pm as the day was drawing in”.
