Dounie Update
1 Apr 2014The river Carron is a delightful and often productive Spring river and often puts some of Scotland’s more ‘famous’ rivers to shame. Here is quick update of the season so far from Dounie ghillie Kim Sawyer.
The Dounie season has started well with Alick Murray taking a February fish weighing 7lbs from the Mrs Ross pool on the 27th. Ron Sutherland, Helmsdale, had a 7lbs fish from the Captain’s pool on Saturday 15th March and his wife, Karen, a 9lbs fish from the New pool on Friday 21st of March. Ian Chambers, Golspie, scored with a fish of 8lbs from the Wellpool on Saturday 22nd of March.

Darren Spencer, visiting angler, fished a low but productive river with his perseverance being rewarded with 4 salmon in five days, those being an 8lbs fish from the Clump followed by a second salmon also weighing 8lbs from the Campbell on the 24th of March, a fresh run 10lbs fish from the Dune Run on the 25th of March followed by a cracking 12lbs fish from the Dune Stream on 28th March, making eight fish so far for the season.
