Pait Estate - Estate Info

Pait is everything a Scottish adventure should be and, whilst wilderness is an overused word, in this case it is entirely appropriate. The estate, just 2.5 hours from Inverness, is accessed via a twenty-mile private road followed by a 4-mile boat trip. The comfortable lodge and cottages are surrounded by Scotland’s high hills, your only company is the eagles and the deer, and it is a location to recharge and to wonder at your surroundings.

Pait Estate - Sport

Pait is a traditional stalking estate, herd management lies at the heart of their deer policy, and it is one of the very best. The ground lies in 2 natural beats, one north of Loch Monar, accessed by a short boat trip, and the other to the South. It is big country, Munro’s surround the lodge, and the early weeks, late August and September, require a good degree of fitness. As the year progresses and temperatures drop away, the strath fills with roars and activity. Pait continues to observe the traditional seasons, and the stags end on the 20th October. Exciting hind stalking, with cottage or lodge and for one or two rifles, is then available through the winter months. Extraction is by Argo and / or by boat and estate rifles are available.

Pike fishing, on fly or spinner, can be incredibly exciting. Pike from a southern lake or mere can be obese and lazy. Highland pike fight like tigers and offer great sport on fly or spinner and, when they are in the mood, they offer great sport. Spinning tackle is provided and we can advise on appropriate fly tackle.

Pait Estate - Accommodation

There is both lodge and cottage accommodation on the estate. All properties have been extensively refurbished and modernised, and all have stupendous views across Loch Monar and to the hills beyond.

Pait Lodge is a triumph. The renovation has taken several years, every brick and slate has had to traverse the loch, but the end result is simply magnificent. There are 5 double or twin bedrooms and all are en-suite. Every practical detail has been considered, there are drying facilities, a snooker room, a dining room and a kitchen and living space with views and light that that are simply spectacular. Every single room has been completely refurbished and yet the character of the old lodge remains. It is cleverly done and we cannot think of a better place to unwind after a day on the hill.

The smaller Stalkers House provides 2 doubles and 2 twin bedrooms with 3 bathrooms (1 en-suite, 2 shared) and is the perfect base for smaller parties. It is again exceptionally comfortable, it has spectacular views and would suit walkers, fishers and hind stalking groups.

All accommodation is let on a self-catering basis with complimentary estate venison. If required there is staff accommodation and we can assist with sourcing a lodge cook. There is star-link internet available at the estate office but please note that there is no phone reception not internet in the properties.
