The Glorious Twelfth

1 Aug 2013

With ‘The Glorious Twelfth’ of August – the start of the season’s grouse shooting – just around the corner, estates are feverishly doing their final counts to confirm what sort of stock they have. This will determine the number of days they will shoot, and will be the culmination of nearly twelve months of sweat and toil by the keepering team. Keepers will have had to complete a whole range of activities from vermin control to heather burning, road and hut maintenance, Butt building and rebuilding. The moment of truth after all their efforts is fast approaching.

Early indications are that we should be looking forward to an excellent season. The last three months of good weather will have given the young grouse a healthy start and brood sizes look encouraging.

If you have not arranged your driven grouse shooting this season, we still have some fantastic days shooting available. If you are a full team of eight or nine guns looking for 50 plus brace, or simply one or two guns looking to join a party, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can fit you in.

In addition to driven grouse shooting, we also have some more modest days of walked up shooting for two to six guns, either walking in line or over pointers.

We have days available from 24 August to early October from as little as £300 per gun.

Grouse shooting is probably the finest game shooting you can experience. If you haven’t tried it, you owe it to yourself.
